There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to systemic change. The Fund for Global Human Rights invests in grassroots activists working in diverse and constantly evolving contexts around the world. That’s why we respect the expertise of grantee partners to define their own strategies and the flexibility to adapt as conditions shift.
Through learning & assessment (L&A), we strive to meet frontline movements where they are and understand what they need to build collective power in their communities. Our global L&A team draws on decades of experience and close engagement with grantee partners, peers, and other stakeholders to ensure we are providing the most effective support and solidarity we can.
Key aspects of our approach to L&A include:
- Evaluating Our Impact
We utilize a range of L&A practices—including surveys, learning agendas, participatory approaches, and more—to design, adapt, and assess the impact of our support. - Setting Strategic Goals
We work closely with grantee partners, building upon relationships rooted in trust and solidarity, to identify outcomes and track progress relevant to their contexts. - Supporting Frontline Learning
We accompany research and learning initiatives led by grantee partners, providing funding and facilitation to generate knowledge and analysis grounded in lived experience. - Building Shared Knowledge
We create space for our team, grantee partners, and peers in the human rights ecosystem to share their learning and experiences with each other.
Our Theory of Change
Our theory of change guides our support for human rights movements in diverse and complex contexts. Using an evidence-based approach to connect our work with learnings and identify strategic levers for effective progress, our theory of change helps us ask bold questions, fuel creative adaptation, and act on our insights toward a more just and equitable world.
