Where We Work

Jordan
Jordan is home to one of the world’s largest refugee populations per capita, mainly from neighboring Syria, Iraq, and Palestine. We support work to expand protections for people on the move and address the structural causes of injustice across the region.

Lebanon
Migrant domestic workers are recruited, exploited, and trapped by Lebanon’s kafala sponsorship system. We support migrant-led organizations advocating for safety, stability, and dignity amid the country’s deepening economic and political crises.

Morocco
Despite its relative stability, Moroccans grapple with increasing inequality, restrictive bureaucracy, and conservative backlash to social reform. We partner with grassroots groups working to expand rights for women, youth, and other marginalized communities through political activism, cultural commentary, and region-wide solidarity.

Syria
After nearly 14 years of civil war, Syria stands precariously between the aftermath of authoritarian collapse and the emergence of a new centralized regime. We support the critical work of community-led initiatives for peacebuilding, reconciliation, and transitional justice.

Tunisia
Tunisian civil society faces growing challenges amid social unrest and deepening political and economic crises. We help activists hold the line against attacks on civic space, connecting diverse groups across issues to build stronger, more sustainable movements.

Turkey
Turkey hosts more refugees than any other country in the world, but many struggle to access social services and face widespread discrimination. We support local groups and initiatives working to protect human rights and meet humanitarian needs.
The Fight for Women’s Rights in Morocco
Morocco’s personal status and family law—the Moudawana—is a legal code that regulates everything from marriage and divorce to inheritance and child custody. But despite incremental progress, Moroccan society remains deeply unequal. Grassroots groups supported by the Fund for Global Human Rights have campaigned tirelessly for equal rights under the law—and inspired other activists across the region to call for similar reforms.
The Fund for Global Human Rights currently invests in and supports more than 500 organizations and grassroots groups around the world. Together, we’re building a diverse global movement to advance:
