Where We Work

El Salvador
El Salvador is backsliding into authoritarianism under the current regime and harshly repressing dissent of any kind. We support activists and journalists, both inside and outside the country, who are on the front lines of defending Salvadoran civic space.

Guatemala
Despite progress made since the end of Guatemala’s civil war, many state institutions have been captured by criminal networks that resist accountability. We help local activists and organizations hold perpetrators to account and defend their hard-won freedoms.

Honduras
Corrupt leaders, corporate interests, and organized crime have colluded to exploit local lands and silence dissent in Honduras. We give community-based activists the resources they need to build people power and demand change.

Mexico
Mexico has endured years of extreme human rights violations amid cartel violence, state corruption, labor exploitation, and geopolitical turmoil. We support grassroots activists, coalitions, and movements that document abuses, demand justice and reparations, and advocate for victims and their families.
Justice for Indigenous Women in Guatemala
For four decades, Indigenous Maya Achi women pursued justice and accountability for sexual violence perpetrated by government-backed paramilitaries during Guatemala’s civil war. Led by a team of three Indigenous women lawyers and supported by the Fund for Global Human Rights, their landmark victory made headlines around the world—and showed the power of community-led activism.
The Fund for Global Human Rights currently invests in and supports more than 500 organizations and grassroots groups around the world. Together, we’re building a diverse global movement to advance:
