Children’s and Youth Rights

Young people aren’t just the leaders of tomorrow—they’re driving change today.

But around the world, children and young people have been excluded from economic opportunity and civic participation, denied access to education and health care, and shut out from decision-making that affects them.

The Fund for Global Human Rights supports youth-led movements with the long-term funding, hands-on strategic support, and technical assistance they need to develop their own solutions to these systemic challenges—and decide their own futures.

How We Support Children’s and Youth Rights

Resourcing Youth-Led Activism and Agency

Young people must have the autonomy, tools, and funding to define and drive their own agendas. We resource youth-led organizations—especially those led by historically excluded groups—to expand their movements and build their power.

Tackling Violence and Discrimination

Violence and discrimination against young people—especially girls and LGBTQ+ youth—remains rampant. We support youth-led work that confronts patriarchy, challenges harmful practices, and builds cultures of safety and belonging.

Expanding Economic and Social Rights

Economic injustice shuts young people out of jobs, education, and land ownership. We invest in youth-led initiatives that focus on economic participation—and the long-term dignity it affords— as a fundamental right for all young people.

Championing Youth-Led Climate Justice

The climate crisis is here, and young people are leading some of the most courageous and creative resistance to it. We fund youth-led movements that are organizing across climate, gender, Indigenous rights, and economic justice.

Empowering Youth Climate Justice Activists in Africa

African youth are stepping up to protect our planet. From leading adaptation projects to providing aid and mobilizing communities, young people have taken matters into their own hands—organizing at the grassroots level to address the effects of the climate crisis.
