Gender justice is justice for all.
Women are at the forefront of some of the world’s most powerful movements for change—from organizing against racial discrimination to leading the fight for climate justice. But across the globe, women and girls continue to have their own rights curtailed by regressive policies, rigid patriarchy, and deeply rooted social prejudice.
Guided by feminist principles, the Fund for Global Human Rights supports diverse movements led by women that are taking on these overlapping sources of injustice to benefit everyone—and expanding the rights of women and girls everywhere.
How We Support Women’s Rights

Challenging the Root Causes of Injustice
Regressive patriarchy creates the conditions for right abuses and harms people of all genders. We fund activists who are transforming these dangerous norms and narratives within families, communities, and societies.

Investing in Cross-Movement Collaboration
Women and girls face overlapping human rights abuses that compound their harmful impact. We support feminist activists working at the intersection of issues—leveraging their unique perspectives to overcome shared challenges.

Promoting Feminist Leadership
Feminist leadership builds collective power through collaboration, resilience, and care. We invest in grassroots groups led by women who put these principles into practice—creating stronger, more effective movements for change.

Empowering Women to Access Their Rights
In countries across the world, women and girls are still denied many of their fundamental rights. We help activists deliver services like reproductive care, support survivors of gender-based violence, and enshrine women’s rights in law through litigation.
Justice for Indigenous Women in Guatemala
For four decades, Indigenous Maya Achi women pursued justice and accountability for sexual violence perpetrated by government-backed paramilitaries during Guatemala’s civil war. Led by a team of three Indigenous women lawyers and supported by the Fund for Global Human Rights, their landmark victory made headlines around the world—and showed the power of community-led activism.
