Defending the Dunes

The coastal sand dunes of Tamil Nadu are a critical part of the region’s ecosystem—supporting rich biodiversity, providing access to freshwater for agriculture, and sheltering communities from storms. But profit-driven developers are bulldozing them for luxury resorts without community consent. With support from the Fund for Global Human Rights, local communities and activists are standing up to defend their land and their rights.
