Migrants’ Rights

We believe in the right to move freely.

But as global conflict and the climate crisis displace millions around the world, people on the move—including migrants, asylum-seekers, and refugees—face militarized borders, violent nationalism, and state-sanctioned persecution.

The Fund for Global Human Rights invests in grassroots activism that supports people on the move along every part of their journey—from providing essential services to helping shape laws that create a more welcoming world.

How We Support Migrants’ Rights

Ensuring Dignity and Accountability

The migration journey is long and difficult. We help activists challenge arbitrary detention or deportation, document abuses, and—when necessary—search for those who have gone missing.

Promoting Migrant-Led Organizations

Migrant communities should be able to advocate on their own behalf. We help uplift migrant-led initiatives and empower them to be active leaders in civil society.

Facilitating Access to Social Services

People on the move are often excluded from basic social services like health care, education, or employment opportunities. We help activists deliver the critical assistance that everyone deserves.

Protecting Migrants’ Rights Defenders

Migrant activists and their allies face xenophobic threats, intimidation, and attacks. We make sure they have the resources, networks, and support they need to stay safe.

A Lifeline for Afghan Refugees

When the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan after two decades of US occupation, millions of Afghan were forced to flee for fear of persecution, arrest, or even death. FGHR has supported organizations working tirelessly to meet the needs of Afghans seeking refuge, relying on our trusted network of relationships to connect with initiatives that provide Afghan refugees with pathways to safety.
