LAGABLAB network dedicated to achieving LGBTQ+ equality in the Philippines. Your support
helps the groups collaborate on public campaigns and policy work tackling barriers to education
and employment—obstacles that are often greater for LGBTQ+ people with disabilities like
Erika.

During the October 2024 airstrikes in Lebanon, Fund grantee partners, including Anti-Racism Movement (ARM) and Egna Legna supported migrant domestic workers fleeing the conflict. The workers, who are mostly women from sub-Saharan Africa, were abandoned by employers and even denied access to shelters.
Your support helped deliver more than 500 meals across Beirut and Mount Lebanon, in addition to clothing and humanitarian support. You are also enabling these groups to continue to advocate for migrant workers, who have few to no rights under the country’s brutal kefala system.

In October 2024, Philippe Ruvunangiza was awarded the 2024 Civil Courage Prize by the Train Foundation for his work leading BEST, which promotes the rights of miners and mining-affected communities in Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Your support enabled Philippe and his team to address the human rights abuses and environmental destruction that are the result of conflict, corrupt governance, and colonial exploitation by foreign countries and corporations. You are also helping them remain safe despite threats due to their work.
In his acceptance speech, Philippe said, “I call on all of us to meet these challenges with responsibility, collective intelligence, and strategic awareness and find the path towards peace, brotherhood, and shared prosperity. To this end, it is essential to convince international companies using Congolese minerals (including several located in Silicon Valley) to stop relying on mercenary states and warlords, and to accept ethical sourcing as the standard by which they procure these rare minerals, using only legal and human rights-friendly means.”

Your support makes it possible for young people from rural communities to attend the program and build an understanding of the principles of the Indian constitution, laws, governance structures, and the rights and responsibilities of citizens. Graduates have gone on to help their communities tackle corruption—including ensuring that funds intended for clean water, jobs, and community centers reach villages.

Along the Mexico-Guatemala border, LGBTQ+ migrants are frequently targeted for bribes or assaulted by gangs. Due to policy shifts and funding freezes, many now also find themselves stranded without access to legal support or HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.
Una Mano Amiga (UMA) provides LGBTQ+ migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers with vital documentation assistance and health services, including HIV medication. With demand for their services skyrocketing, support from the Fund has helped UMA reach hundreds more LBGTQ+ people in need.
